Aggressive Representation in Child Support Collection and Contempt Cases
Collecting from deadbeat parents is a difficult and tiring process. The cheapest means of collecting is to request services from the Office of
Child Support Enforcement whose offices are listed in the government section of your phone book. There is little to no charge for
their services. However, a private attorney can usually provide quicker and more personalized services, but for a fee. In some cases
the court will order attorney fees reimbursed to you, but that is not always certain. Motions for enforcement and contempt proceedings can be brought to
collect your child support arrears. Ultimately, if the non-custodial parent doesn’t pay, the non-paying parent can go to jail or suffer other consequences.
However, in our experience most non-paying parents will pay before they go to jail.
